At ARP, we have thousands of parts in stock. We also can work with you to custom fabricate parts for your special needs. These are head studs for John Robinson's diesel dragster. From John- "We have switched the fuel systems & turbos over to Scheid Diesel Motorsports. The boost we are now hitting 155 lbs & the hp is up to 1500. We are fixing to do a 5 stop tour out west with 4 truck stop appearences, Aug 1 we will be in Butte MT, Aug 2 we will be in Billings MT, Aug 3rd we will be in Cheyenne WY, Aug 4 we will be in Denver CO. We'll end up at Bandimere on Aug 7 for an event known as Truck Fest where we will be racing. Mahle Motorsports has stepped up to the plate with us as well by building some new pistons for this new engine."
I wish I could tell everyone that the car ran great and we won the race again but no such luck this time around. We got to the track in Numidia, Pennsylvania on Friday, unloaded the car and displayed it for all the spectators and racers to see, there was a great crowd. We got a lot of attention and talked to a ton of people.
Saturday morning dawned a beautiful day and we warmed up the engine and tranny to get ready to try our brand new combination. We had lightened the car, removed the front and rear wings to improve aerodynamics, reprogrammed the nitrous controller to eliminate “all” the diesel smoke and installed the new “Big” fuel pump that had shown on the dyno to make an easy 200 more horsepower than the old one. As they say in Texas, we were loaded for BEAR!
At 9:30 AM Emily pulled the car into the burnout box and hit the throttle, WOW! Copious smoke poured off the rear tires as the turbos spooled instantly with no smoke, except the tires. This was looking good! She backed up and staged the car and it instantly got on the converter stalling to 4800RPM’s with the turbos pumping out a solid 40 pounds of boost. The tree flashed and Emily was on her way to the quickest pass of her life, 1.12 60 ft, 3.17 to the 330 mark, then disaster struck. As the car shifted from low to high gear the fuel pump drive gave up and the motor went silent, Emily coasted through the eighth mile with a 4.94 @ 134MPH…………….
The good news, if there was any, is that the Numidia PA track is at an altitude of 5300 feet. This usually dictates very poor performance from any internal combustion powered vehicle and it did slow some of the vehicles up to one half of a second. If this was true with our car then we are looking at 6 second potential at sea level. Like with most racers, we know what it takes to run a certain ET, a 1.12 60ft time combined with a 3.17 would indicate a mid 4.80 eighth mile and further math indicates the imaginary quarter mile ET to be a sub 7.50 pass. This gives us hope for the six second zone by the end of this year.

Back to the beginning - Lion's Club Park, Gaston IN 2001-2011!
What a Saturday night in Gaston Indiana for Diesel Motorsports, sponsored by PureDieselPower.com! This sled pulling event was held in honor of where it all began 10 years ago. Gene Mohney and Eric McBride who orchestrated and held the first event was there to tell the story.
Originally held as a TDR club event along with letting outside diesel trucks in to sled pull on the local fairground. A fairground that has been in the small farming community since 1935, you could tell by the giant trees shading the fairgrounds.
Yes many of the locals still remember the original event and a few stated they still had the original Thunder in Muncie t-shirt. They told me the trucks were quite different then and the newer trucks put on much more of a show of power going down the track.
Many of the local shops came with trucks representing their abilities and those who were here in the beginning; Dave's Diesel, Haisley Diesel, Wade Wright's Garage, and many more.
A very nice beginning to bringing back a legendary event, yes we will be back next year!
Last weekend the NX DuraMax powered diesel dragster made its debut at the NHRDA FASS Nationals at the fabled home of the US Nationals in Indianapolis Indiana. With seventeen year old NHRA World Junior Dragster Champion Emily Herod at the wheel, the NX car rolled out of the trailer and set low ET of the meet on its first pass down the quarter mile racing surface! The NHRDA World Record for the Top Diesel class is 7.67 seconds, the NX dragster ran a 7.82@172 MPH. However a cracked exhaust header prevented us from trying to reset the existing record with a more aggressive tune-up, so we settled in satisfied to be the quickest and fastest car at the track. As the day of racing wore on the final round pitted Emily against a Cummins powered Altered who had already eliminated John Robinson's mighty Cummins powered Funny car. Knowing the NX car was steadily losing performance from the damaged header Emily calmly did her burnout, staged the car and proceeded to put an excellent light on the Altered and she never looked back, taking the win with a decisive 7.96@170 MPH
The weekend was an unqualified success, low qualifier, top speed, and event winner, how much better could it get? The NX team is already hard at work repairing the car and getting ready to attend the NADM event in Numidia, Pennsylvania. We intend to be the quickest, fastest, most feared car on the diesel racing circuit.
Well we just completed Race 2 on the Pro Pulling League Series, Friday Night's Race got Cancelled do to rain, but the weather held out for Saturday, we were the second class to pull that night and I was the last puller in our class, I did pretty good, there were 5 trucks that had a pull off which I missed by 8 inches so my pull was 319.33 and the pull off was 320 feet not bad for my second race which I got 6th place so I am improving every time which is great. I am having a great time and as always I want to thank each one of you for your continue support as I am doing my best for you, Mikey didn't come to Texas so I don't have any video of my pull, well that is it for now, our next race is in Salem, Indiana on June 4 hope to see you out there soon, talk to you all later and have a wonderful day and again thank you for everything you do I am trying to make you all proud.
We have recently started a monthly contest for photo submissions of your project car/boat/motorcycle using ARP. It's a lot of fun for us to see these cool projects as they come in. We thought you diesel folks might think this was cool.
The results listed here are supplied to us by racers who run ARP products. If you would like to send us your results, please use the link at above to email them to us. If
you are doing something special with your diesel, please send us an email with photos.
